(ANPR) Automatic Number Plate Recognition or (LPR) Licence Plate Recognition (LPC) Licence Plate Capture are cameras are designed to cope with low light on scene but bright light from the subject, using a mixture of lens and camera technology and adaptive IR Beam width they are able to capture an image of the number plate.
Not all cameras will actually recognise /log the number plate as they will just provide the software or recording device with and image or video that either the user will have to physically review the playback footage to view the number plate.
The next option would be to use either software (on a server or embedded in camera) to analyse the image and extract the number plate details which can then be searched exported or even triggered to open a barrier or automated gate.

ANPR Search
Using a VMS software or embedded in the camera, ANPR cameras allow easy search of licence plates across the site.
Number plates can be stored into watch list to alert security of a potential known vehicle or politely open a gate or raise a barrier.
